As 2025 comes to a close, we take a moment to reflect on a year that clearly showed how much the slaughter industry is changing. Increasing regulatory pressure, rising costs, and operational challenges have become part of everyday reality for many slaughterhouses. Throughout the year, these developments have strongly influenced our work at VDZ Trading.
During 2025, we were offered a significant amount of equipment and complete slaughterlines, particularly from within Europe. Germany stood out in this respect. These offers reflect the growing challenges slaughterhouses are facing and the difficult decisions many operators have had to make. As a result, much of our work this year focused on supporting slaughterhouses during transition phases, including dismantling entire slaughterlines and coordinating complex projects.
Rather than viewing this purely as a disruption, we see it as part of a broader industry shift. Equipment is moving, facilities are being restructured, and operations are adapting to new realities. Our role in this process is to provide experience, structure, and practical guidance.
At the same time, 2025 was a year marked by a wide range of international projects. From urgent spare part deliveries to large-scale equipment shipments and multi-phase projects involving dismantling, logistics, and installation support, no two projects were alike. We worked with customers across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and the Americas.
Now at the end of the year, our warehouse is filled to the brim with high-quality equipment. This strong inventory position allows us to respond quickly to customer needs, shorten lead times, and combine equipment in a flexible way. In a market where speed and reliability are important, this has proven to be a key strength of ours.
Internally, 2025 also marked an important step forward with the launch of our new VDZ Trading website. The new platform better reflects who we are today and how we work. It supports more transparent communication, improved information accessibility, and a stronger connection with our international network.
Another important development this year was the growing focus on VDZ Aqua. From the beginning of 2025, water and wastewater treatment solutions received increased strategic attention within our organisation. With Robin van de Ven joining the team at the board level, VDZ Aqua took a significant step towards further professionalisation. As water treatment continues to play an increasingly important role within slaughterhouses and other industrial operations, we see strong long-term potential in this area. Parties interested in VDZ Aqua are welcome to contact us at info@vdz-aqua.com.
Behind the scenes, we have also been working to strengthen and expand partnerships. These collaborations aim to complement our existing expertise and enable us to offer more comprehensive, integrated solutions. We look forward to sharing more about these developments in 2026.
We want to thank all customers, partners, and suppliers for their trust and cooperation throughout the year. We look forward to continuing this journey together in 2026.
